This is an excellent collection on animal power and a must for anybody who wishes to understand more about the magic of animals. The author clearly has a very wide depth to her knowledge, as well as imparting animal facts, she also includes information gathered from a lifetime of searching, I'm sure. Each animal (over 70 of them) has its own chapter with information such as: characteristic, legends and traditions, medicine and power from any global culture which has knowledge of that particular animal.

It is truly a DEFINITIVE GUIDE to the medicine and power of animals. This book is far more detailed than others books on the subject. She covers some 68 animals in all and not all American either. ANIMAL WISDOM is nearly 400 pages. It is a true wealth of Information, one not to be passed up.

This is by far one of the best books on the topic of animal magic I've read ... it is exceptionally thorough, an incredibly detailed animal totem dictionary. Palmer is very good at what she does. She starts with physical characteristics and environmental factors of the species, then discusses world lore and mythos surrounding it. Next she goe into more neopagan magical correspondences, and finally a paragraph or two of her observances of people associated totemically with that animal. Her writing style is excellent. Overall this is a high-quality piece of work that any worker of animal magic should own. It's a superior reference when researching totems, and a definite change of pace from the same old stuff. Good job!
